Bloodsister: First of all, welcome to the family, Safwaan! We are happy to have you on board. To make sure that everyone out there will get to know you a little better we’d like you to introduce yourself to the world.
Safwaan Cook: I’m Safwaan, I’m 16 years old at the moment..and I really like BMX riding and eating, especially pasta. I grew up in Maitland Cape Town with my mum and siblings..Two sisters…one younger, one older.
Bloodsister: When did you start to shred the streets on a BMX and why?
Safwaan Cook: I actually started shredding the streets with my bike just a little more than a year and a half ago. I saw a couple of my friends bmxing so I thought to myself it looks awesome and I should give it a try..and ever since I fell in love with bmx riding.
Bloodsister: What was your personal best of moment in BMX so far?
Safwaan Cook: My personal most important moment in bmx sports must have probably been the day I won that comp at the shred skatepark..and I’m really proud of that and it changed everything.
Bloodsister: Describe yourself in 4 words.
Safwaan Cook: Motivated, hardworking, fast learner, respectful
Bloodsister: Tell us more about your lifetime dream and why you agreed to join the Bloodsister Foundation.
Safwaan Cook: My personal lifetime dream actually is to become a pro bmxer, to make a living from sports as well as to live abroad one day. Like in Spain or the UK. I joined Bloodsister, because I see it as a great opportunity, that could help me with my goals and dreams. Bloodsisters mission is really good, because they are all about helping people to achieve their goals and reach their dreams.
Bloodsister: So how do your future plans look like..sportswise?
Safwaan Cook:My future plans are definitely to take BMX to a next level and to broaden our local BMX scene as it’s really small at the moment.
Bloodsister: Do you have any idols?
Safwaan Cook: The person I mainly look up to is Stevie Churchill, because he has a brilliant riding style and I really like it.
Bloodsister: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Riding along Stevie?
Safwaan Cook: I actually see myself still riding BMX, but being a pro already and helping others to get promoted so BMX riding could become more known over here.

Safwaan’s Support Team

“Alone we are strong. Together we are stronger.” Each of our talents gets accompanied by a personal talent manager, who supports them in reaching their lifetime dreams. Ideally each talent manager would be a professional within the area of the talents need with a strong network and a bunch of tips&tricks to share. Being a talent manager does not focus on the active execution of the profession only but mental support as well.

Martin Klinger
Head of our Climbing Team

Martin’s potential lies in educational and sports activities. That’s why he took over the training of our children’s climbing team.
